Rafael Nadal cemented his status as the world's top tennis player on Sunday, capturing the US Open title in a thrilling four-set victory over Novak Djokovic. The Spaniard, who entered the tournament as world No. 1, dominated the match from start to finish, winning 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.
Nadal's victory marks his third Grand Slam title of the year, having previously won the French Open and Wimbledon. He also became the first man since Rod Laver in 1969 to win three Grand Slams in a calendar year. Nadal's win also extended his record against Djokovic to 18-7, including a 5-1 record in Grand Slam finals.
