Amazon Expands Boston Tech Hub
Amazon has announced the opening of a new office and fulfillment center in Boston's Seaport District, bringing 2,000 new jobs to the city. The five-story fulfillment center is Amazon's largest facility in Massachusetts and will handle same-day delivery for customers in the Boston area. The new office space will house teams working on Alexa, AWS, and Amazon Pharmacy.
"We are thrilled to continue investing in Boston and creating new jobs for the local community," said Dave Clark, Amazon's CEO of Worldwide Consumer. "Our new fulfillment center will enable us to deliver products to our customers faster than ever before, and our new office space will provide a state-of-the-art workplace for our employees."
The new jobs created by Amazon are expected to pay an average salary of $150,000. The company is also investing in training and development programs to help employees advance their careers.
Amazon's expansion in Boston is part of a larger plan to create 3,000 new jobs in the city over the next few years. The company has already opened a new Tech Hub in Boston and is planning to expand its presence in the city's innovation district.
